Description
MacKenzie/HLI Tartan Regimental Trews For offer is a pair of genuine un-issued Trews in the MacKenzie Tartan as previously worn by The Highland Light Infantry, subsequently the Royal Highland Fusiliers, which traditionally wore tartan trews during most their history in lieu of a kilt. The Trews are quite versatile for most any occasion being perfect for wear with essentially any formal, business, and smart casual attire. They are also a great way to display pride of one's Scottish heritage whether a former Fusilier, a MacKenzie, a proud Scot, or one that simply believes Tartan is a much under-rated and neglected fabric missing today in men's fashion. These are a genuine pair of ex-military trews made of 100% heavyweight 16oz Strome wool with a luxurious hand and are of the highest quality being traditionally tailored with only an inseam on the legs so there is no outside seam to distort the natural sett of the tartan; whereas virtually all civilian trews have an outside leg-seam and hence a tapered appearance/intersecting of the sett. They have a 2-1/2" high waist with extra-wide belt loops for a kilt/stable belt, zip fly w/ double tab waist fasteners, brace/suspender buttons, side slash pockets, and finished with a Cavalry Cut. The trews are in excellent, as-new condition with no defects. The trews still have years of wear left with only minimal care needed - basically, keep the moths away and they'll remain as good as new for many years/decades. Perfect for a cold weekend stroll through the Highlands in lieu of a kilt, be it in Scotland or the Highlands housing development around the block. The Trews are also great for casual/business wear with either a SS/LS button-shirt and/or woolen jumper, and creates a brilliant and classic look when worn w/ a blue blazer and shirt/tie - reminiscent of trews and a Blue Patrol jacket. In the summer one can perhaps match the trews with a Linen jacket & tie, waistcoat, and Panama (Spectators optional, but highly recommended) for a wink and nod towards "A Gentleman in Kha(r)ki" for wear to a summer garden party or vintage fancy dress; where one will almost assuredly receive many compliments with perhaps the most often being, "quite dapper"! The Trews are equally suited for wear in lieu of kilt for Evening/Formal Dress to a Tartan/Scottish Ball or formal function when worn with a Dinner/Evening jacket, a waistcoat or cumberbund, and black/white tie - a great alternative if one cannot yet afford the kilt of their choosing, and perhaps a more appropriate and better option than a light-weight wash-n-wear casual kilt. Please note these are high waist trews so when measuring yourself for suitability please measure around the thickest part of your torso, usually about 1" above the naval. They will fit a 36" waist size comfortably and down to a 33-35" using the waist adjusters, or taken in as needed. There is enough extra material at the back seam to let the waist out approx another 1", possibly 2" at most, if necessary. Below is size information in cm from the label and inch conversions are included for convenience; Length - 85 / 33.5" Waist - 92 / 36.2" Breech - 112 / 42.5" Aside from complimenting one's business and casual wardrobe, the trews would also be ideal for Militaria Collectors, Pipers/Pipe Bands, HLI Boer War/'Old Contemptibles' Re-enactment, and Fancy Dress/Costume. Whether you are tired of looking like everyone else at the office, want to display your Scottish heritage, or just love wearing tartan, here's a great opportunity to not only acquire such a brilliant, versatile pair of high quality trews at a fraction of the cost, but also a luxurious piece of Scottish Regimental history that is guaranteed to keep all your Lowlander knees (or Highlander bits??) toasty on even the coldest of nights. (Please Note: Free US/Discounted Int'l postage is only included in the Buy-it-Now option and will otherwise be included at end of auction.) (Offer does NOT include any other items in the pictures not mentioned and are intended for reference/display only.) Please ask if any questions at all or want additional photos. Many thanks. I am listing a number of genuine Scottish and British military items so please have a look around if interested. Payment is required within 5 days after invoice is sent unless prior arrangement is agreed upon. I will post within 48hrs after payment is received and am happy to combine multiple items upon notice.
